Abstract

Stroke is a sudden loss of brain function and triggers unilateral paralysis which can reduce posture and balance control, resulting in difficulty walking. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of LVST-BIG training in improving balance in stroke cases. Based on pre-experimental quantitative research with a one-group pretest-posttest design, this research population took stroke cases in Dibal Village, Ngemplak District, Boyolali with a total sampling technique of 7 people. This intervention was carried out in stroke cases 16 times with a duration of 30 minutes/session. The balance measuring tool uses the Berg Balance Scale instrument. Hypothesis testing using Paired Samples T Test. The results of the research obtained a significance value of 0.000<0.05 which shows that there is a difference in the mean results of the Berg Balance Scale between groups before being given intervention or after being given intervention for stroke conditions in Dibal Village, Ngemplak Boyolali

Abstract

Telemedicine has emerged as a pivotal solution for addressing healthcare disparities in rural communities, where access to medical services is often limited. This study aims to evaluate the impact of telemedicine on healthcare access in rural areas, focusing on how residents perceive and utilize telemedicine, the effect on healthcare outcomes, and the barriers to its implementation. Using qualitative research methods, secondary data were collected from academic journal articles, government reports, and healthcare surveys. Findings reveal that rural residents generally perceive telemedicine positively, appreciating its convenience and accessibility, although technological literacy and trust in technology remain concerns. The impact on healthcare outcomes is significant, with improvements noted in chronic disease management, patient satisfaction, and cost savings. However, several barriers impede the widespread adoption of telemedicine, including technological infrastructure limitations, regulatory complexities, reimbursement issues, and the need for provider and patient education. The study concludes that while telemedicine has the potential to transform rural healthcare, addressing these barriers is crucial for optimizing its effectiveness and sustainability.

Abstract

Breast cancer refers to the cellular malignant growth in breast tissue. Chemotherapy is an applicable treatment for breast cancer but this treatment causes sleeping problems as a side effect. Hydrotherapy and natural music are non-pharmacological methods to manage sleep problems. This quasi-experimental research determines the effects of hydrotherapy and natural music therapy on the quality of sleep of patients receiving breast cancer chemotherapy by applying One Group Pretest and Posttest. The research took 43 sample people using the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) questionnaire. The survey results revealed that 43 respondents, primarily aged 46 to 55 (23 respondents or 53.5%), 16 respondents with primary education (37.2%), and 32 unemployed respondents (74.4%). Most respondents received chemotherapy at Dr. Kariadi's hospital and had poor sleeping quality before the intervention. After the intervention, 32 respondents had excellent sleeping quality (74.4%). Wilcoxon's statistical results found the influence of hydrotherapy and natural music on the sleeping of patients receiving breast cancer chemotherapy at Dr. Kariadi's Hospital. The P-value value is 0.000 lower than 0.05, accepting Ha and rejecting Ho. The results also recommend the management of the intervention at the same room temperature.

Abstract

Background, The problem of mothers not consistently giving breast milk is the mother's fear of the adequacy of the breast milk produced. Efforts to increase the adequacy of breast milk so that the baby's weight increases can be done with back rolling massage. Massage in this spinal area increases blood flow, provides a sense of comfort, stimulates milk production, overcomes the inactivity of breast milk production which is assisted by the baby's suction on the nipple. Purpose, This study is to determine the effect of back rolling massage on the weight gain of infants aged 0-6 months in the Working Area of the Kartasura Health Center. Methodology, This type of research uses Quasy Experimental with pretest-posttest with control group design. The number of samples in this study is 30 respondents. Data collection was carried out with observation sheets. The data analysis of this study was by univariate and bivariate analysis by Wilcoxon. Results : Based on the research, the results obtained by using the Wilcoxon test obtained a value r= 0.005 for the control group and a value r= 0.001 for the intervention group, where the value value r < α (0.05) which means that there is an effect of back rolling massage on the weight gain of infants aged 0-6 months in the Working Area of the Kartasura Health Center. Conclusion : There is an effect of back rolling massage on the weight gain of infants aged 0-6 months in the Working Area of the Kartasura Health Center.

Abstract

Children with cerebral palsy will experience problems with their movements. Cerebral palsy affects muscles and a person's ability to control them. One of the disorders that occur in children with CP is disturbances in walking balance, which ultimately results in disturbances in walking motor skills, so children experience disturbances in daily living (ADL) activities in their daily lives. This research aims to determine the effect of using Anke Foot Orthosis on children's functional balance. Cerebral Palsy. Method: This type of research uses a Quasy Experiment with a pretest-posttest with a control group design. The total sample for this study was 10 respondents. Data collection was carried out using observation sheets. Analysis of this research data using univariate and bivariate analysis with Wilcoxon. Results: The influence of using Anke Foot Orthosis on the functional balance of Cerebral Palsy children, data taken before and after treatment with a value > 0.05. The conclusion is that there is no significant effect between using Anke Foot Orthosis and functional balance in children with cerebral palsy.

Abstract

Background: Amputation can be defined as the act of separating part of the body, part or all of an extremity. Currently, lower limb amputations account for 85-90% of all amputations and transtibial amputation is the most frequently performed type of amputation surgery. One of the problems with transtibial amputation is hyperextension and weakness of the ligaments in the knee. Knee hyperextension is a condition that occurs when the knee joint is extended (straightening the knee) excessively, thus putting pressure on the structure of the knee and the back of the knee joint. Ligament weakness in the knee is weakness in the anterior cruciate ligament, posterior cruciate ligament, medial collateral ligament and lateral collateral ligament. Choosing the right prosthesis components can overcome this. One component that plays an important role is the foot component. Methods: This type of research is observational analytic with a cross-sectional design. The research subjects were 17 transtibial prosthesis users. Data analysis in this study used Spearman Rank Test. Results: Based on the Spearman Rank results, the significance result was 0.653 for the type of foot with hyperextension, while for the type of foot with ligament weakness, the significance result was 0.434. Both variables had variable values > 0.05, meaning there was no correlation between foot type and hyperextension and ligament weakness in transtibial prosthesis users. Conclusion: There is no correlation type of foot to hyperextension and ligament weakness. In future research, it is hoped that research can be carried out with a larger number of samples and a more varied type of foot.

Abstract

Known as hypertension, or high blood pressure, is a non-communicable disease (NCD). Preliminary study data from Dr. Kariadi Semarang Central Public Hospital indicated 561 patients with hypertension over the last three years (2021–2023). Hypertension symptoms often resemble those of other diseases and can vary among individuals, including fatigue, palpitations, increased blood pressure, nosebleeds, headaches, and nocturia, which can disrupt sleep quality. One of the non-pharmacological effort to prevent hypertension is slow-stroke back massage, This study aimed to determine the effect of slow-stroke back massage on blood pressure and sleep quality in hypertension sufferers. The research design employed a quasi-experimental method with a one-group pretest-posttest approach, involving 42 respondents selected through purposive sampling. The results demonstrated that slow-stroke back massage effectively reduced systolic blood pressure (p-value = 0.00) and improved sleep quality scores (p-value = 0.00). Slow-stroke back massage can enhance relaxation and increase parasympathetic nerve activity, thereby reducing the heart's workload. This study recommends that nurses apply slow-stroke back massage therapy in hospitals to help control blood pressure and improve the sleep quality of hypertension sufferers.
